In 12h we'll point ftp, ftp2 and ftp3 to faster instances with more space, memory and cpu.

In all likelihood this won't affect ongoing uploads. Your ftp client asks a DNS for the IP to the ftp server when it connects and then it has the address in memory probably as long as you're connected. However, if you have unfinished uploads, you may or may not be able to connect after the 12h (the vague formulation is due to DNS entries being cached on several levels so the exact timeout is hard to tell).

We'll leave the old instances running for a few days so you can finish what you're doing.

Ok now I don't see thread on new ftp3 anymore. I keep tryin but can't connect, ftp2 is working fine. Here's what I see using filezilla.

I've tried resetting the "privacy data" to clear the cache. Oh well any ideas Marcus?

Thanks for the log, Don. To figure out if there's problems in the ftp program (like some encryption setting not accepted by the new server etc) could you please try the new java uploader? It's basically a pure ftp uploader in it's present configuration.

Because the old java uploader used http to post the upload and the new server is just an ftp client run in the browser.

Ok, SS ftp works fine (no I didn't send anything just tested? So does a couple of other places. Only P5 in ftp, ftp2 and ftp3 cannot connect. Even hooked up to a different dsl model. Everything has worked fine for last two years now what is happening? I use the same ole workhorse Filezilla. Also the new Java uploader will not let me connect. What in the heck am I doing wrong after all this time?

I can't see any connection attempts from your IP nor username in the log, oddly enough. A far fetched guess, have you allowed the old ftp servers in some firewall or such? A theory easily tested by trying another machine.

Just talked to my ISP, he tried on both their internet system as well as a completely separate one, same error;

So it shows connecting then 425 invalid address. Sounds like your server does not like me. I tried two different computers and modems also. We just can't get through using my log in. It worked this morning then the ISP had to reset my system card, after that I can't get back. Sounds like the P5 server did not like me dropping off. We just can't see anything wrong here or with my ISP. They even tried a basic DOS ftp, passive and active ... same error message. Any help?

I've submitted a support case at Amazon aws about it. We took the less expensive support option but they usually answer quite quick.

Not sure what happened but this morning it's working on ftp3. Something must have been reset somewhere ... thanks!

The ftp server software borks if it can't lookup the name if an IP address for the log. Personally I'd just print the IP in the log but the ftp server programmer is a pretty clever guy (the source code is really beautiful) so I guess he had reason to do it that way.

Anyway, I changed the log format to just print the IP and not bother with the dns lookup (sorry for all the disrupted uploads where applicable).
