So ok ... I'll say it. Twitter is for twits! I can see some value but now that almost every photo agency has an auto twit that says how many clips are approved and sold each day as well as all the spam junk the idea of actually having a bunch of contacts and actually reading them is almost impossible. I guess the way to do it is a "spam" Twitter account where you can collects lots of contacts and then have all the auto twits sent there.

I block 90% of the contacts I get just because they are spam. Does anyone here really use it to communicate to friends and family or has it become a giant spam marketing tool that very few actually read anymore?

If ya'll really use it and ready it do you have multiple accounts? How do you keep the porn and spam out?

and I don't get much spam, I don't know why you are getting so much.

I only follow people that may buy something from me. Producers, independent film people etc. and a few of the regulars at Pond5. I don't see a need to follow other photographers since they wouldn't buy from me and that is what I want.

I don't use it for personal use with family or friends. That is what the cell phone is for. (guess I'm old school)

Oh, I'll admit it, I don't bother reading much of what most of the people I follow say. I created a group that if certain people (mostly the pond5 guys and some of the independent film guys) say something that goes in that group and I can read that.

I think twitter is a great way to tell allot of people you have some thing new that's cool, that they might want to check out. I sent a link to a new background that I did and it sold in the last sales report.

I don't really use it for any thing personal just business, I'm to long winded to have a limit on my characters for personal

I do know that Dave has had some sales and even a few people that sighed up using his link from Twitter so he made money off of what they bought.

Hey Marcus, can you do like another unnamed site and when we get a sale here it automatically creates a tweek on our Twitter, I know my sales on the unnamed site have really increased due to their automatic postings. And hey...its all free advertising for you.

I added myself to that "wefollow" a few months back, and I think that's why I get the junk/porn follower, but so long as I don't follow them, I don't see their SPAM.

I used to "auto-tweet" (from that other agency) whenever I get a sale, but It thought that could be considered a tad bit "SPAM-y", so I just now send an auto tweet when I get clips approved there, which I think is a little more tolerable, since that doesn't happen as often as sales occur.

The new "lists" feature on Twitter is a better way to see only those you WANT to see. For example, I now have a "friends", "family", and "stock producers" list. I can just look at the list I want to see updates on, rather than it all at once.

I have four twitter accounts... One for personal, one for following 'spam' type stuff I'm actually interested in (sales mostly, one for advertising my clips, and one for my secret CIA contacts

One of the pitfalls of Twitter. I get these weekly. Just don't click on anything people send you.

Jake is so full of it, he really does make that much using google every month some times every day he just wants to cover it up so we don't make the big bucks too!

So whoever is doing it is doing it is an affiliate
IF you go to that website and contact the company and give them that info that will most likely ban him as an affiliate, and hes monies will be revoked. Because hes not supposed to be doing that obviously, and the company doesnt want to support hackers. Also it looks like the redirect IP is from TEXAS:

I'm glad phantomewo started this. I too think Twitter is for twits - it's the most annoying platform, in my opinion. It's the ultimate in short-attention span media. I have networked with a lot of editors on Facebook, though, and find that to be a good place to get exposure and hopefully some sales...

... and I invented the internetz.... 8-)

I have to admit it's not my favorite form of communication. It's really not about what I like or don't like though, it's about works or doesn't and twitter is working well for some of us.

Same here, seems to be working. I know I met some very interesting independent film people and actually bought one of their movies because of that. So at least he made money :-)

Actually, Tom Bennet invented the Internet. He just rents it out to the rest of us.

It's hit or miss on Twitter. It takes a lot of time and patience to get anything out of it.
