Mizamook 3 Oct 2012 07:40Thanks kk5hy, and for the Atomos, well, I sent it back and bought the PIX220. They both have pros/cons....clip quality is the same, Atomos is lighter, better on batteries, PIX is heavier, but better build quality, has phantom powered XLR inputs, etc.
HDMI is the WORST, in either case, for someone who might bump a cable. Believe it. The WORST.
But this is a clip thread, not tech discussion..sorry. Here's a clip shot with Sony HVR-Z5U PIX220 DNxHD145:

kk5hy 6 Oct 2012 13:49Shot at 12,500 ISO. I did use some noise reduction in the clip for sale but I have the original clip on my YouTube channel which shows that there is still very little noise from camera.

and a carpenter, and a foreman, and a businessman, and a preacher, and an FBI agent, ...
You know what would make that shot better? Slow motion. It's all the rage these days.

Mizamook 12 Oct 2012 04:58Are you seeing a big difference from your usual magnificent work? I suspect it might be in the rendering of the shadow/gradients....I never did like the T2i's look, but I haven't messed with the 5d mkll yet, either....I hope you're digging your new gear!
Nice work....looking good!
kk5hy 12 Oct 2012 11:00This clip now that I'm seeing it online I'm not digging it so I will delete it.
Something with the photojpg I guess.
Anyway, I absolutely love this camera. Even in this low light clip I can see all the detail in the shadows behind the computer monitor in the foreground and behind my head.
For more well lit shots the color and sharpness is unbelievable.
The only I've used my 5d is to take behind the scenes photos. But I'll still use it as a second camera.
Mizamook 12 Oct 2012 20:02Curious about that, Jake....you're deleting a clip because of the preview quality? I ask this because I have noticed that many of my own clips that have lots of detail/high bandwidth seem to take a quality hit in the previews compared to those that fall well within the range of "normal".
These were shot with the Z5u/PIX220 DNxHD145:

kk5hy 12 Oct 2012 20:38No, not because of the preview, just in general.
Delores and I are our worst critics and probably delete more than we upload.

ODesigns 13 Oct 2012 13:02You throw clips away, Jake? Don't you know Pond5 is where you're supposed to upload everything?
You'll never get to 6, 7, or 8,000 clips that way.

Think outside the box
Eat wild cherry life savers
dapoopta 13 Oct 2012 13:44Those life savers will be life eliminators. Don't do that.
Go to your recycling bin, grab all video files, hell grab jpgs. I don't care. upload. don't edit. just upload. copy and paste some keywords and BAM. complete.
Globescope 14 Oct 2012 05:11Some of the clips I think the least of turn out to be sellers. Keep them up and see what happens.
Mizamook 3 Nov 2012 01:47Working with clips from this shoot was quite difficult. Lining up the HDV and DNxHD versions frame-to frame, and working with them from there, the benefit of the higher bit rate I-frame codec was very apparent. Sony Z5U.

MichaelWard 3 Nov 2012 02:21You guys all do awesome work. I'm still fairly new to this, but trying to expand my portfolio weekly. I processed this clip a little heavy because I wanted to give it that video game look. This was captured on a Panasonic GH2, hacked up to 176mb.

kk5hy 5 Nov 2012 15:34Green screen shots from the Canon C300 recorded at 50Mbps at 4.2.2
Getting more Victorian era props and clothing to shoot inside the train car instead of green screen. Just got permission to do so. Very excited about that.
