Description

Panning down shot of the clockwork, aka movement, the inner workings of a 18th century antique grandfather tall case clock. This clock has a wooden movement, with no brass plate. The seconds gears, anchor escapement, and pendulum are all in motion. Toward the end of the clip, catgut is seen wound around a spindle that holds a weight which imparts energy to the movement as gravity pulls the weight down. Also seen at this point is the crutch and fork mechanism that imparts energy to the pendulum to keep it in motion. Audio captures the anchor escapement and the ticktock beat of the pendulum.
