This tiny butterfly is probably the smallest in the US and is seldom seen although quite common if watched for. Under 1/2" with wings closed makes it hard to see, however, and it's habit of staying only inches off the ground doesn't help it's visibility. Patient hunters, though, are bound to find this little gem of a butterfly.
