Description
A Turkish F-4 Phantom jet is shot down by Syria with a surface to air missile.
The June 2012 interception of Turkish aircraft by the Syrian Armed Forces on 22 June 2012 resulted in shoot down of a Turkish F-4 reconnaissance jet. Two pilots of the jet were missing; both Turkish and Syrian forces searched for them before recovering their bodies in early July. The incident greatly escalated the tensions between Turkey and Syria.
