Description
The Crenshaw Boulevard section of South Central L.A. has been a civil and social hub for Los Angeles’ black community for decades. Working-class blacks poured into this area of Los Angeles during the Great Depression and in search of jobs during World War II. The area is also known for the creation of the west coast gangsta rap genre, the 1993 Rodney King riots, street crime, and gangs such as the Crips and Bloods.
