Description
Todra Gorge is situated on the remote east side of the High Atlas Mountains in Morocco. Both the Todra and neighbouring Dades Rivers have carved out cliff-sided canyons (Arabic: wadi) on their final 40 kilometres (25 mi) through the mountains. The last 600 metres (1,969 ft) the Todra gorge are the most spectacular as the canyon narrows to a flat stony track as little as 10 metres (33 ft) wide in places with sheer and smooth rock walls up to 160 metres (525 ft) high on each side. The tiny glacier stream is something of a misfit and the river which once filled the gorge can only be imagined. It is easy to hike in the gorge - there is a well-maintained dirt road to walk along. The scenery is spectacular
