Description

Animation of the human brain rotating against a transparent background, starting and ending with a front view. Different structures in the brain are coloured differently. The two cerebral hemispheres are light blue, and form the largest part of the brain. They are linked by the corpus callosum (green). At the base of the brain, the cerebellum is pink, and the brainstem, which connects to the spinal cord, is in front of it. At the centre of the brain is the limbic system, of which different structures are shown in each half of the brain here for clarity (they are paired in the brain). Near the base of the limbic system is the hippocampus (purple arcs), tipped with the yellow amygdala. Near the midline is the thalamus (yellow), which is enveloped by the dark red caudate nucleus, itself overlaid by the purple fornix. Next to the thalamus is the light blue hypothalamus, which connects with the pituitary gland (orange). HD supplied with alpha channel.
