Description
Arthritic knee joint, animation. The knee is the largest joint in the human body, and bears almost all of the body's weight. This makes it very prone to injury and wear and tear. In osteoarthritis, the smooth cartilage that lines the surfaces of the joint becomes worn away by mechanical damage, leaving exposed areas of bone. This causes friction, pain and further damage.
