Description

Osteoclast on bone tissue. Osteoclasts (pink) are the cells responsible for bone resorption, the breaking down of bone. This is done in response to low calcium levels, or to remodel bone. Osteoclasts are large, multinucleated cells located on bone surfaces in pits called Howship's lacunae, or resorption pits.
