Description
The ancient form of metal casting is displayed here. Wax models of the end product are created first, followed by a clay outer mold, which is then baked in the kiln until hardened (the wax melts away). Bronze (copper and tin) and brass (copper and zinc) and created. Heated, poured into molds, and chipped away to reveal Hindu idols. This is one of only a few of the last remaining "old-style" production facilities in the world, located in a village in Bangladesh.
