Description

Shot of African Penguins (Spheniscus demersus) grooming each other at a Penguin Colony near Boulders Beach in Cape Town, South Africa.
The African Penguins are only found in the Southern African waters. They are also known as the Jackass Penguin for their donkey-like bray. Their main source of food are fish like anchovies and pilchards that they catch out in False Bay, but commercial fisheries and climate change are affecting their preferred prey. The African Penguin is listed as an endangered species.

Note: this is not a captive animal in a zoo or theme park - these Penguins are wild and filmed on location at their colony in South Africa without any interference from our film crew.

Location: Cape Town, South Africa
