A shot of one of the 27 radio telescopes at the Very Large Array (VLA) near Socorro, New Mexico. This is the most productive set of radio telescopes in the world for receiving signals from space. Over 600 scientists from around the world use the facility for research. Each dish is 5000 sq ft in area and 82 feet in diameter. Each dish is on rails so movement in the array is possible.
