Description
Along the Southeaster coast of Alaska and the West coast of Canada is a string of island that form what is known as the inside passage. This area between the coast and the Alaska range form an area with very high amounts of rain. The temperate forest here is dense lush green with heavy undergrowth of ferns, devils club and moss and more. Trees fall and the wood becomes food for new growth with new plants growing right out of the stump or fallen log. The forest we are visiting is the Tongass National Forest. I will show you some of the trails we hiked. For miles the Forest Service has layed down wooden planks to walk on, board walks. There are several small city/ towns I stopped at and spent a week or more trying to get off the beaten path or just see more than the average tourist. Hope you enjoy.
