Around the islands are all over the austral summer nearly all the great whales. You go on the trail of the legendary Antarctic explorer Sir Ernest Shackleton, after a shipwreck in 1915 using a boat pulled by 1300 km distant South Georgia and then rescued after 128 days of his entire team. In addition to millions of fur seals, elephant seals over 300,000 giant leopard seals live here and the legendary walking albatrosses and four penguin species: over 5 million Macaroni, Gentoo, Chinstrap and the king penguins.
