On November 11, 1921, the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier was dedicated at Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia, three years after the end of World War I. Additional crypts have since been added to honor unidentified fallen soldiers from World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. The tomb is guarded 24 hours a day, 365 days a year by Tomb Guard sentinels.
