Early Film Projectors

On April 21, 1895, the Eidoloscope film projector was exhibited for the first time. Its creators sought to improve upon Thomas Edison’s Kinetoscope, creating a device able to project films to a large audience. Many other similar devices were developed and exhibited in 1895 and 1896, including the Cinématographe and the Phantascope, which was later marketed as the Vitascope. In this curated editorial stock footage collection, find archival clips of early film projectors.
