Curator doesnt like PhotoJPEG

simonfilm 17 Oct 2012 08:04
I have just received this from curator:

"These clips are good, but why are you exporting them using the PhotoJPEG codec? If you are indeed shooting with a 7D, then it would be best to export using the camera's native codec (H264). This will improve the quality and size of your clips. Please re-export these clips using the camera's native codec and resubmit."

Do I have to avoid using PhotoJPEG? If I recompress to H264 then it is not "camera´s native".

Thank you very much.

Simon.

.MOV package, (so quicktime video) with H264 codec is native to Canon DSLRs.

Still, it is the first I have heard of that.

Same here... doesn't sound right :-)

No Curator has ever sent me a message like that.
dapoopta 17 Oct 2012 19:18
other sites aren't accepting h264.. so I don't see why you would convert different files for different sites.

If someone from Pond5 can help it would be nice. I dont want to publish the name/numer of the curator that sent that to me.

Hello Everyone

There has been a slight misunderstanding with this issue.
Pond5 does accept PhotoJpeg and we do accept .h264.
Pond5 prefers camera native files but we do accept PhotoJpeg and ProRes, among other codecs.

@simonfilm please feel free to re-submit your clips, if you have not done so already and contact us with any questions.

Sorry for the confusion and keep contributing!
