Rejected

PickYourTakeStudio 16 Jun 2021 06:00
Hi everybody,
I've been submitting to Pond5 since last year (about 30 tracks or more) and so far all but one got rejected. I have a much better luck with other libraries, including AudioJungle, which is a harder library to get approved, from what I've heard.
I know there must be a good reason or several reasons why I'm having a tough time here. Of course I never know even a broad category of reasons for rejection (composition, mixing, sound quality, utility of the music), which would be really helpful. Do you have an idea why the tracks below could be rejected? Maybe I'm doing same silly mistakes across all of my tracks? What do you think I'm missing?
I'll continue uploading and trying my best even after 100 tracks. I know I'm getting better. It would just be helpful to know where my weaknesses are. Would really appreciate any feedback.
Thank you for any comments!

I took a listen and have to say I do like your tracks, Is the one that got accepted a dif bit rate or type then the others. I think .wav is the best and most compatible. But as far as sound quality goes the tracks on SC and the track you have here all sound really good to my ear so I don't feel that is the reason. I know if 2ch mono they would get rejected but these are def not mono. Maybe some others here can give you a better idea as to why.

Thanks for the feedback SFXDude! I always submit wav files and the bit rate settings should be the same, it's been a while since I touched them. I always suspect my mixing is at fault first, since it's such an artsy subjective thing and I know I can improve a lot in that department.
By the way, you have an impressive collection of good sounds!

I thought the tracks sounded really good and had some impressive "non-stocky" character and development .. maybe they want bland boiler-plate stocky sounding stuff and you blew their little mind?

Thanks Mizamook! That would be the best explanation for my ego, wouldn't it? There is something to be said about music blending and sitting properly with the media and not distracting the consumer, so who knows.
Your visual portfolio is out of this world. I love Alaska, just returned from a trip there, an amazing place to live. Liked your music too: Elvin Lament is gorgeous, I'd like to try something similar one day.

@PickYourTakeStudio Thank you, I always try to record and design SFX that I think could sell and be used in different types of productions and that's half the battle trying to work out what may or may not work on the platform. So now you have 2 of us here who agree you have some great sounding tracks. So maybe as Mizamook said it's pos they do not feel it is stock enough hard to say, but I def don't feel its a mix or sound quality issue.

Thanks SFXDude, appreciate the feedback! I'll continue submitting, I'm sure one day I'll figure out where I've been off. All the best to you in your creative search!

Hey,

I checked out the tracks. The only small nits I could find to pick were that the drum track on "Chilling On A Sunday" sounded a bit mechanical to me, and although I liked "Walking Down The Christmas Lane" I couldn't hear any real connection to the holiday season (if that makes any sense). I have no idea why they rejected "Anxzzziety" except maybe the curator thought with that title it wouldn't register in a search (where, say, buyers are looking for "anxiety"). Keywords in titles do seem to help.

I do like what you're doing and I encourage you not to give up.

Hey Bruce, thanks for your feedback! I did call my submission "Anxiety" so the rejection must have been due to music quality. I totally agree with your comment on the first track; need to pay more attention to my drums in the future and make them more varied. The lack of connection to holidays is valid too, this is a nostalgic twist on the theme and it doesn't sound like a typical Christmas tune. Appreciate your thoughts!
I'm really impressed with both the quality and size of your portfolio. I recognized your name immediately because I've heard your music here on Pond5 before. I wish you continued success and new creative ideas every day!

Could it be because you've uploaded 32bit files instead of 16/24bit? Cheers!
