They are now FINALLY officially shipping, so at least one camera is out the door. But they also just announced that they dropped the price for the BMPC 4k to $2,995!

Awesome!

Price dropping usually means that there is another product waiting.

Interesting but one camera is a small drop.
I agree they could have some other camera in the works or they are trying to keep in the game from that Panasonic 4k DSLR

I wouldn't be surprised if BMD is announcing a new camera at NAB :-) something like BMPC 4K "V2" with 100fps using the newly available CMOS sensor. Of course it has to cost more than 2999,-

I am with Jake in this one - Cameras are very much a "sideline" for BM. I would be amazed if they announced another new camera at NAB 2014 (unless it had a shipping date of "when we can make it work"!). Three cameras in a row have suffered major delays, would they really try this a fourth time?

The new sensor has been available for some time but with technical and production problems I'm sure they decided not to take a chance with it since they were so delayed. Maybe like GoPro ... a 4K + will probably be announced with the new sensor. If so the price will be the same. If they could have delivered 6 months ago the price drop would not have happened. Too much upcoming competition.

I believe the price drop would be due to competition that didn't exist at the planned release date.

Can I make a stupid question. What is going to be the bitrate accepted as "broadcast quality" for BBC?

" What is going to be the bitrate accepted as "broadcast quality" for BBC?"
I guess nobody knows. I presume that if it was 50 mbs for HD then it must be 200 mbs for 4k.
