Rejected: Noise / pixelation at full size

Ok, this is a new one for me as I am just starting out but so far on SS I have had everything accepted. My Sony RX10 is more than capable of shooting footage arguably as good as a GH3 so I am a bit miffed as to why I have had some in this latest batch rejected at SS for "Noise / pixelation at full size". I have adjusted the white and black levels in fast colour corrector in Premiere Pro (2 days left for trial) and about 10% sharpness rendered at 95% .mov file (following instructions posted here some time ago from other Premiere user). Is pixalation added when adjusting levels in Premiere ? I can't see it on my dell monitor so I am at a loss as what to do.

I have just received a letter from SS saying that one 5 yo clip was removed, not rejected, because of pixelation. True, the clip was pixelated. I believe they have some kind of software that checks for pixelation.

Did you take the clips in low light? This causes pixelation and noise.

In most cases you should not sharpen. 10% is probably too high if you do. Cut way back on processing as far as contrast, color correction. Too much Fast Color Correction in PP will cause a pixelation look.

Have you color corrected your monitor? Do not believe it when Dell or any manufacturer says their monitor is permanently color correct. Get a Spyder or other good device to help set the proper color balance on your monitor or you will make changes to your footage that the end user will not like.

Is this forum now for SS?
I would expect if a user asks something depending a videoclip, whe should be able to take a look at it!

I dont mess with colour and i dont think that is an issue with most buyers. There are enough washed out, dull, flat examples on P5 that sell ok as it's the footage buyers want, not the spot on colour balance. A spyder would be just more expense for a problem that doesnt need fixing.

I wouldn't want to use an uncalibrated monitor - I want to know what my imagery actually looks like - so I have been using Spyders for years. They are cheap, effective and simple to use.

The colors of my new laptop were noticeably off. I'm not a calibrating expert so decided to purchase the Spyder Express. 30 minutes later the colors on my screen looked absolutely glorious. I recommend using it, even if you don't plan to color correct your clips. It's a small investment compared to all the gear we buy and the many clips we create.

A proper calibrated monitor was one of the biggest step forward to improve my work...even if my best seller clip come from an uncalibrated monitor....:)..
I suggest you to don't play too much with levels...you are working on a 8bit file...you could use rgb curves instead...

If you want to talk about SS do it over on the SS site. This is Pond5 and it really isn't fair to discuss SS issues here.
