Panasonic 4K New Run & Gun Camera

Panasonic HC-X1000 4K looks interesting as a run and gun prosumer camcorder, goes up against the Sony AX100. The Panasonic shoots 4K all the time and if you want HD it down samples from the 4K image it filmed, the 4K signal is from the whole sensor, no line skipping or sampling. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1077993-REG/panasonic_hc_x1000_rk_ultra_hd.html

My concern is regarding its ability to shoot in low light. I am not talking about complete darkness where it can shoot in IR. I am talking about "regular" low light. This is because the sensor size is the same as the size of the GoPro. Other than this, and the fact that it has no "photo" button, I am very tempted to buy one. Let's see some original footage.

I agree with you and from my GH4 experience I don't think you will see Canon 5D2 noise levels but it is a nice form factor lighter weight than the Sony AX100 and built in ND's. I'm thinking about it also, I like the way it handles HD footage down sampling 4K which on the GH4 gives a far better image quality when you reduce 4K to HD rather than straight HD and with it being a 4K down sample it will clean up digital noise to some degree.

Why didn't they put a 1 inch sensor? :-/

I think because they have positioned this in their "consumer" division but as the Cnet review said it is more pro than consumer.

UltraHD
MP4
30,840 x 2160 / 59.94 fps (150Mbps)
3840 x 2160p / 59.94 fps (100Mbps)
3840 x 1080p / 23.98 fps (100Mbps)

they really screwed up the specs on that page haha

They also have an all I HD at 200Mbps

If the Panny FZ1000 for $900 has a 1 inch sensor for 4k recording, I still do not understand why this camera fails in having the same sensor but with better image processing.

The 20x - f1.8 lens it comes with will be part of the reason why it has a smaller sensor.

Be wary of Panasonic built in camcorder lens. The HPX170 and HPX250 had lens sharpness problems outside a very narrow range of f/stops.
