GOOD BYE!!!!!!!

downundershooter 18 Dec 2014 21:02
I don't know about the rest of us potential contributors but I am going elsewere.

Not prepared to wait around for 1 and a half months for someone to deem to look at my images.

I feel that my productive time has been completely wasted by an organiseation that treats it's income makers like second hand clothes.

So I wish you all good luck in getting your images online with them, just think about the potential income you are ALL missing out on whilst your images are sitting on someones desktop, becoming irrelevant this is a trending world and what you shoot now that is trendy in 2 months it has gone past it's use by date.

So as the american news readrs used to say " NO THANK YOU AND GOOD NIGHT"

Impatience in the stock business is the worst sort of trait to have.
downundershooter 19 Dec 2014 02:27
Mate it was not impatience but constipation on the part of Pond5.
And dapoota I have been around the stock imagery business probably since you were a boy in short trousers.
This is NOT patience but bad business practice.

DownUnder,

Mate, I understand your frustration, but let's be honest for a second and take a deep breath. You right to some degree, it is a long wait, but look. this isn't your only market place, it shouldn't be. The Pond5 team are going as fast as they can, i'm certain of that, it is a busy time of year, i'm guessing. I see long wait on other sites too, related to video, it is what is what it is.

But, some months are good others are slow, that is the case with sales and that is the case with approvals too. But I'm being honest here, shutting the door on a good marketplace and potential sales, no matter how long the wait, isn't a good business approach. As well as posting what clearly is frustrating to you in a manner as such isn't productive either.

If your an artist and i'm sure you are (without sounding condescending) you know you have to wait for that perfect shot, and 95% of what we shot or film never makes it. The same applies here.

I do hope you think twice, I'd hate to think any artist would miss any given opportunity presented to them, but sometimes, in many cases, the good things are worth the wait.

Good luck either way mate,

cheers,

NM

NM is being too nice. If you honestly have been doing this for a long, which I doubt, you would have run into many similar situations, where edits get behind. The beauty of stock is, once they are out in the market, you never have to worry about it again. The only bad business decision being made is by you.

I will keep waiting for more sales....

If you start your career in film time, the waiting time is average 6 months or longer. I don't know your work, so I can't see how long you are in the business.

Some work finds a market quickly, other work doesn't. I've given up trying to predict what will or won't sell. I've had stock music tracks that buyers snapped up almost immediately after they appeared here. Meanwhile, one of the first tracks I ever posted here just sold for the first time yesterday, after sitting for over two years. So yes, you must be patient and keep plugging away.

Believe me when I say that we completely understand the frustration. Who would want to wait a month or more? Or really, even just two or three weeks. Reasonable curation times are, at the longest, three to four business days. We do believe that.

In the past, curation times have fluctuated very wildly here at Pond5. There have been times where everything only had a day or two wait time, and there have been other times where it's been as bad as it is now. Some of our veteran sellers can surely confirm that.

I don't have any excuses for you. We're incredibly overburdened, that's all there is to it. We are working very hard, every day, to curate as much as we can, as quickly and cleanly as we can. But right now, our best is not enough. We say it a lot, and truthfully it's almost always true, that we are hiring and training more curators. That helps, but the situation demands more, so we're working on other ways to help speed up and improve the process.

To all of you who have stuck with us through this, thank you very much for your patience and understanding. We'll do our best not to let you down.

@downundershooter - We are sad to see you go, but we completely understand. We wish you the best of luck in your future pursuits, and if you ever want to check back with us, you can always email <support@pond5.com> to ask what the wait times are like.
