Kinda stupid and now pissed off a lot of 5D MKII buyers. $1000 less and difference between mp is minimal. More options on HD video. Just made the 5D obsolete after Iess than a year. Guess they are worried about upcoming Nikon and decided to really drop prices to maintain market share.

I was thinking about buying a 5d but maybe i should look what the difference is between the 5d and this new baby the 7d :)
I could buy a nice lens for the 1k :)

Smaller sensor than the full size in the 5D MKII. But really significant, don't think so. Many other items like focus points are better on 7D. I wonder if Canon decided the full size sensor was just over kill and a waste of money?

I wouldnt be surprised to see canon give us a firmware update for the 5d with all the same options. Its very likely.

Hey Phantom - it's the same size sensor as in the Red One (S35 sensor)

I own a fresh brand new 5DII and I do not feel I miss something.
1. Cinema look is not reduced to 24fps
2. The sensor size does make a difference both in terms of DOF and dynamic range.
3. Even Canon is not emphasizing the video capabilities of the 7D. Video is referenced only under Image Type . I am waiting for the first user's experience.
4. 60 fps is indeed something
5. Focus points for video? For professional video??? I really do not need any focus point in video mode. I do only manual focus.
If I were to buy again a new camera right now I would stick with 5DII.
God help us all!

A big plus for wildlife and sports, the cropped sensor helps reach out and touch the subject.
