Hi guys,
Have you ever sell a smartphone's footage?
Do you think it's a good idea or pond5 doesn't accept them?
Best,

Mattia

Only time I think it is acceptable to use substandard footage is if it is news worthy or of historically important, like when the plane came down in the Hudson river. having said that some of the newer phones now shoot 4k just the lenses that let them down.

I do not think I understand all your answer.
If is possible for smartphone to shoot 4k videos, do you think is a good idea to upload them?

if the camera work & quality is OK and not shot portrait as so often is then fine if not no. I have seen some awful stuff from dlsr cameras too.

Ok. I will try with a smartphone camera. I think is a very good quality!

I know some guys here that carry their phone all the time shootimg things that would have been otherwise lost.
I have some and they do sell, just go in knowing the extreme limitations of the camera. Just like other small sensor cameras.
Only bright lit scenes and absolutely no low light stuff.
Use the exposure lock function too so you don't get any flicker.

USe a Smartphone only as a backup when you don't have a good camera with you. Although the video and photos look good when viewed on a smartphone or tablet when you look at it at 100% on a good processing program it falls apart with pixels and blotches much more than a good dslr. Look at the lens ... a 1/16 inch opening cannot match a good camera. The sensor is as small or smaller than your little finger nail.

Yes as an "emergency" backup, no as a primary camera. The great viewing quality on a smartphone screen is deceiving. So yes I know people who have sold clips from a smartphone.

Thank you!!!
Yes, I think the smartphone is really important in "emergency" situations!!!

True, a smart phone is no match for a "good" camera in terms of absolute quality, pixel peeped at 100%. However, the "best" camera is the one you have with you. When you see "THE MOMENT" do you pull your smart phone out of your pocket and capture it or do you miss the moment while you are rummaging around in your camera bag for your "good" camera? Some of my best selling clips were taken with my "emergency" camera.

For example, look at all the amazing aerial footage shot from drones with cameras that are little more than smart phone cameras.

That said, when shooting planned and set up shots my smart phone stays in my pocket.

IMHO - content weighs as heavily as absolute quality.

Thank you dandeemann!!!
So, had you shot your drones video with a smartphone assembled on the drone?
