wideweb,

Don't you have quick internet connection?
I know you are on the boat already. Good luck, Man !!
Someone will see the wave of the future, some will skeptical.

And do you do your stitching by hand adjustment? Very tiring when I did my panorama photo. Movie stitching..Wow..

I hope you're right.

But I said the same thing about 3d. This is the future...
And bought a 3d camera, only to sell it for half of what I paid for it the next year because the wave didn't happen.

Of course I do see this as a different thing. A lot of gamers already playing with 360 games.

I read the article ... "“artist-first” philosophy" ... that was with the former CEO.

360 photography is not easy. I did that for a short time. You really need to spend a lot of time getting the horizon exactly leveled. It never really picked-up. I recovered my investment but made no significant money. Regular photography won. 360 security cameras were also a failure. Files were too huge big for practicality. 360 VR eye piece is very old technology. It also failed in becoming popular. Not even in video gaming are they popular. 360 video files are huge if you add the sky for spherical video they are gargantuan.

IMO 4K TV will not be so popular as the industry hope to be!!
They are too quick to jump to the higher/next level, in order to take the filet from competitors and make earning for investors. VR is extreme unpractical to use, except for kid gamer!

Just IMO

Let's be optimistic.
Going for dinner.

Promotions always look great. In real life the cameraman has to hide under the tripod or has to dress properly to be part of the shot. If you are a filming crew then you have a bigger problem, they all have to become actors. No cables nor cases can be seen on the floor. If you are in a public place you need to be close to the camera or it will be stolen or somebody is going to go to touch it. If you need to light a scene then you need ..... I guess you have to camouflage your lights as portable street light poles. I had to hide under a tripod a lot of times or hide behind objects. Maybe it will have a better chance with slow flying quadcopters. I wonder how much a professional editing suit cost.

4k will be the next big thing in tv. VR will gain some ground in terms of video games and some content, but I see it being very niche and I don't know if that market will be buying stock videos. The future will tell!!! I do want to get an oculus rift or the new ps4 one coming out soon, they are lots of fun.
