Panasonic GH3 - wow!

You'll note he used the original patch which was only 42mb and it still looks awesome. The patches have come a long way since then.

New post by Andrew Reid at EOSHD today -- salient points:

- HDMI output is indeed 4:2:2! 8 bit only, but should be promising for green screen.
- Does have some moire, but not as bad as Canon
- same resolution as GH2, much improved codec, better color, dynamic range, etc.
- LCD and EVF greatly improved
- MUCH better battery life, especially with battery grip
- better stills than GH2
- Better at high ISO
- focus peaking looking more and more likely to be added in future firmware update

Keep in mind this is still preproduction firmware -- more could improve in the next few weeks.

What about low lux comparing to 5D II or III?

I can't get an answer from BHPHOTO as to certify if $1,299 is the final price that is going to be on the product at the moment it is available for sale and in stock. They just say they do not know.

5 reasons why at this time I am convinced that I must wait to buy this camera over the T4i even though of the fact that you almost can buy 2 GH2s for the price of the GH3.

1) It has a better chance to be included in the BBC list in comparison to the T4i.
2) Offers high bitrate without the need of any hack.
3) It has a clean HDMI signal output so I can buy a Ninja later on; the T4i doesn't. (not even the 5D Mk III has a clean hdmi signal output )
4) It has instant autofocus; something I need in many ENG situations. The T4i autofocus is crap.
5) It is weather sealed. I live on an island and have lost a few cameras to ocean spray, sea water plus the fact that I live in a hurricane prone area, so I need a storm/hurricane resistant camera.

It's like having a small Blackmagic Cinema Camera but much more versatile.

Yep!

And some other things --

- built-in time-lapse is very handy,
- monitor and control wirelessly - you can use this as a type of focus pull
- quad-core processor -- none of Canon or Nikon's cameras have this
- early reports seem to indicate that the wireless control also lets you control power zoom lenses just like you would zoom a camcorder. This has been one of the biggest things I missed moving from camcorder to DSLR.

And I'm sure there will be lots more!

BHphoto has erased the December 5 available date and only left " New Item, Available for pre-order". I guess they do not know when they will have it on stock.

A few folks over on the dvxuser forums got theirs last week. Lots of feedback is coming in...
