Ya I didn't cover Kimball so SS didn't like it ;) I really don't get it. Manufacturers put their logo and names all over everything to make it visible for marketing but then complain when a photo is taken. That law should be made where in if it is in public and it was meant to be seem it's fair game.
.
And yes you play much better ... heck my little grandkids bang on the piano better ;)

I'm still struggling with the noise issue. Neat Video cleans everything right up. Like Scott said, might be viewing 4K on HD monitor. On P5 previews it all depends where I pull the preview up. The one in the forum is bad noise (IMHO) but others look ok.
.
Mark, I see in another forum you said your new Z-100 is much better. Do you still see grainy noise in blue sky or is it smooth and clear like 5D MK II/III? I think I'm comparing the Canon full sensor but I kinda expect as good or really better. I really hate to use Neat Video on everything. SS and P5 have accepted all of them and still no comment on noise so maybe it's just the 4K versus older monitor and massive date problem but my sky shots sure seem to have a lot of small moving dot noise and feathers on chickens a lot of mottled blocky noise in my view.

Go and look at the approved clip 33712962 that is on line it's clean. You cannot judge clips noise level in these threads has they haven't processed and will show noise. If you think I'm wrong try posting his clip on this page and you'll see what I mean.

Rekindle you’ve gotta make your own call on this one. I’ve said before that I’m not in love with this camera. I suspect that within a year I’ll replace it with something much better. But right at this moment it’s my best option. Anyway, there are some things this camera does well, and other things, like low light, that you can just forget.

“Do you still see grainy noise in blue sky or is it smooth and clear like 5D MK II/III?”

I can still see noise in sky shots, sometimes hardly any, sometimes a lot. I always denoise shots with a lot of sky, but I don’t denoise everything I shoot.

Here are some of the shots I’ve been posting.

Mark, Yes I looked at your animal clips earlier today and saw little or no grain or noise in them. Without having two cameras to compare its a difficult call. Funny cause some of my previews here at P5 look great and others no so. Maybe it a wait till a final P5 processing takes place and not initial preview.

Did you look at my "piano" clip I was teasing James with in this thread. Is that the kind of noise you got with the first camera but not on the second? My first bunch of clips were all default; turn camera on and shoot. Now I'm using manual adjustments. That might make a difference.

I did look at it, and think it looks fine. I think too many people are spoiled with the beauty of large-sensor DSLRs. But right now, at these price points, there really aren't very many 4K options that would provide the same clean output.

And don't forget, DSLRs have their own inherent disabilities. So no one camera is flawless.

And I did investigate further and found out that Fur Elise is in the public domain. And iStock even decided to take this clip that was originally rejected.

I would throw in my 10 cents... yes Don, that piano is noisy. :)

"Is that the kind of noise you got with the first camera but not on the second? "

My first camera was defective, and by defective I mean BROKEN. Like totally, completely, unequivocally screwed up, so there is no comparison.

I am surprised to hear that Sony is losing quality control. They are usually really tight in this sector of their business.

Mark, depends on your stock subjects. My investment in 2013 TRAVELS was double+ than CANON 1DC cost.

I know Don likes to travel also.

Mark, do you think it's worth it to change the camera every year and redo the work + traveling cost (in my case) again and again with different camera just because the quality was not good enough in the first place?

I don't know about P5 customers but my customers are very interested in image quality before they license the 4K footage.
