Looks like feedback is positive. Awaiting for Santa to bring mine.

my big concern is that it appears that the GH3 has noticeable propensity for moire in comparison to the GH2. and if thats the case, id probably just go with the 5d3 for its FAR superior stills performance.

Any body has received this camera yet?
If you have, what mbs are you going to use for stock videos; mov @ 75 mbs or mov @ 50 mbs?

This camera has made me rethink my kit... I currently shoot with a Canon 7D, and 3 L-series lenses. It has always been my thought that I would soon upgrade to the 5D mkII. At the time I bought the 7D three years ago, I was shooting primarily photos, and just starting out with video and timelapse. Now, 3 years later, I am shooting primarily video, and am working towards making video production my full time endeavor. I'm wondering if I should make the leap - sell my 7D (which lately I've heard more and more producers and editors state that they are steering away from), and buy a GH3 and a couple good lenses. It seems difficult to justify replacing my current kit with a smaller-sensor camera, but the benefits of much higher bitrate, autofocus, stabilization, and the stellar reviews of the GH3 are making me think hard about it.
Any thoughts?

I would advise borrowing or renting one first. See how you like it. Shoot a few different types of shots and get to know it first. Maybe buy one at Best Buy and return it if you don't like it. :-)

You can always keep your lenses and see if you can find a micro 4/3 adapter.
For me, and I am not a pro, the GH3 is the best DSLR camera out there under $2,500 for video. The Canon MKIII may be better but is 2.7 times more expensive.
With those high native bit rates, the GH3 is a mini-C300. It will eventually be hacked to improve performance like the GH2.

You can easily pick up any lens adapter on ebay for $25. I have to ton...Minolta MD, Canon FD, Nikon, etc The down side of course is that if you want a nice wide lens, you're going to pay more for it than you would with a full frame camera. That 24mm lens on a GH2 is going to be a 48mm lens with the cropped sensor.

I wrote BHphoto.com again to see if they are filling orders or if the pre-order queue is still growing.

Thanks for the input. Physics, great suggestions. Cinecamera and Michael, I have looked into the adaptors, and the drawback is that autofocus doesn't function on the adapter-connected Canon lenses. I'll definitely get the adapters anyway if I decide to keep some of the Canon glass. The crop factor is also a bummer, as I've suffered the 7d's 1.6 crop, and I was looking forward to zero crop factor with a 5D mkII. I'm still split on my decision. If I had a budget to work with, I would be making different decisions. I'm just blown away by the GH3 sample footage I've seen.

You're right, the adapters only give you a manual focus since there is no electronic connection between the lens and camera.
