Panasonic GH3 - wow!

@Mizamook, you only tab the screen with no force or move what you want around. No vibration is transferred to the lens so the clip is not affected as you tab the screen. I will place my GH3 in the refrigerator and tell you if sensitivity is affected.

Rack focus effect test #2 with tele-converter (2x) OFF and in a different angle. Original Intra file uploaded,

Rack focus is okay, it kinda overshoots then comes back. Not a huge deal, and definitely a selling point!

The GH3 is an awesome camera. I wanted to buy the GH2 when the hack came out for it. Still holding off on cameras til the black magic pocket comes out.

@cinecameratv Congratulations! I think you made a great decision. I know from reading your posts you've been looking for a new camera for awhile, and sounds like you're a happy guy! IMHO the problem with a lot of videos on YouTube is that the person producing the "test video" generally has no friggin clue as to what they are talking about.

Most of them just un-box a unit, never read the instructions, and they're off to the races to make a video and post it, and of course people looking for good information come across it, and figure it's good info... That sucks.

Post more pretty bugs please :)

BUILT IN TIME LAPSE TEST - 100 stills - 5 secs apart - played at FHD 29.97 fps

No intervelometer or ML required.

No mirror means no mirror assembly fatigue = no maintenance required after 1,000,000 cycles. So like Duracell it just keeps going and going and going.

Original file looks great. And by the way, battery life on this thing is formidable. I used it for 2 days making tests and it still has 1/2 a charge.

@Acmestudios, I do not own a T4i nor T5i not even a T3i, but I have used a T3i and T4i. In this account I have mainly used a T2i. I prefer the 60D over the current Rebels.

About autofocus reviews. I think I can identify which are good and which are garbage reviews. But there are other opinions in P5 from pros about Panasonic's mirrorless autofocus. This is a quote from dnavarrojr:"(dnavarrojr 2012-09-17 10:51 ps.) I got to play with a GH2 a couple of days ago and THAT is how auto-focus on a DSLR should work while shooting footage. Fast, quiet and accurate."

In Canon's Rebels defense I would say that I prefer a Canon in my hands for photo than a GH3. ...and I do not like the Lumix neck strap...jejejeje

AUTO-FOCUS TEST VIDEOS.

These are tough situations for a DSLR autofocus. Those that need a DLSR that they can use for ENG (in some situations) can see how the GH3 behaves.

Manual mode - autofocus on (eye in the view finder)

I learn today that the GH3 stereo mics are always on. You can lower the recording level to 1 but it seems that you cannot turn them off. Teleconverter using the central part pf the sensor does not work in 60p. Today I went to the rainforest to film waterfalls. The GH3 behaved very well. From every 10 tourist, 8 had Nikons, 2 had Canons and I was the only GH3 in the rainforest. They were taking photos. I was taking videos.

If you want to upload clips directly from the camera with no sound you must plug-in a 3.5mm audio plug into the GH3 mic socket while your are recording. Your choices are (1) a turn off mic, (2) an empty adapter, or (3) a plug with wires cut.). I hope this is solve through firmware. I will try to find a plug with a 90 degree bend.

Surprising on Nikon versus Canon. On my travels Canon always out numbers Nikon and all others combined by several times.
cinecameratv 19 May 2013 11:56
@Rekindle - the only Pro I saw had a Canon, either a Mk ii or Mk iii with the EF 24-70mm f/2.8 L lense. Wish I had the money to buy a Mk iii but I needed a "VolksKamera".

MOIRE & Aliasing (the one thing I was very concerned about) - very satisfied. Much more better than the Canon T2i that I was using. These wooden planks on the bridge were a nightmare when using a T2i.
