I noticed some people are not shooting n video with sound? Why is this?
Won't you get more sales with sound?
Is the Rode Vide Mic a good mic for travel type material? Scenics/Cities?

Only include sound if it's important to the context of the video. Do not include and sound that contains music such as from a radio, TV, CD or or anything that is not written or played by yourself or does not have a music release. Same goes for voices if they individual and anyone could determine who the voice belongs to. Also if the audio is distracting such as wind noise just remove it. Sales will come if the quality of the video is good. Charge a good fair price based on production expenses and your time. Don't undercut prices in hopes of selling a high volume. Many great videos never sell and many so-so video sell often, it's had to tell, buyers have a lot different needs. Good luck.

Thanks for your reply. Very useful. So do you think it is wrong to sell at $50 and better to sell at a higher price. I have noticed alot of sellers are embracing micro style pricing? I come from Rights Managed backgroud so I am no familar with micro. What is a fair price for a clip? Thanks.

Well that is a question that has been talked about a lot here. When you consider camera, lens, tripod and other equipments, computer, software, internet, travel, and especially time I also find prices for "most" HD video at less than $50-75 to start to be a losing proposition. I have seen videos start here at $50 and soon were selling for up to $400 on a very regular basis. I started lower because so many like you said came from the micro stock world; that was a mistake. Buyers come here because it's more cost effective to buy than contact a shot. On photos I do not waste my time at micro sites, I only sell photos where the prices are average $100 to $1400 each and yes this still sells well. For more detail on pricing and value start a thread in the artist section. I would suggest $50 is far too low for HD footage ....unless it's a duck on the city park and even they sell sometimes.

Thanks for your reply. I think you are right to start low then raise prices.
I actually worked in film libraries in London for many years and the going rate was between £400-600 a minute for broadcast footage, alot more if sold into advertising. So if you have something special worth putting a good price on it.
I dont shoot micro and still make good fees selling rights managed images. Thanks again.
