Color enhancement

How do you proceed and think about color enhancement generally?
With this question i don't mean the technical "how to do", i mean the "to do or not to do".
I use for video recording a Sony XR550VE. In any way i often have the feeling that the colors in the record are a little bit poor and so i make a decent color enhancement by converting. Usually for my own music video projects i make much more color enhancement because i like expressive colors. But what's better for selling here?
Do the most buyers prefer expressive colors or is it better to be careful with these, because they can enhance it by themselfes?
