Does it matter if we're Exclusive?
Ryan 11 Aug 2022 13:50
Hi folks. Yesterday many of you may received bulk payouts, which included some very low priced sales. The vast majority of these (including those referenced by folks here in forums), were related to low priced Adobe subscription sales that occurred over the last 4 months since their subscription launch in March. As you may know, we have now terminated our partnership with Adobe as of July 29th, and this was the final payout of those licenses issued by Adobe. Apologies for the disappointment this may have caused.

Ryan, would "bulk payouts" be substantially higher if they were via Shutterstock?
Ryan 11 Aug 2022 16:30
@singletrack We are not currently distributing Pond5 content through Shutterstock (except for a few beta test cases where we have first discussed with the individual contributors).
singletrack500m572 11 Aug 2022 17:25
Ryan, thanks for your reply. OK, Adobe is out, Shutterstock "currently" won't be distributing Pond5 content, but the million dollar question is how many other partner outlets are there for our content to be bulk distributed at seemingly give away pricing? We would all like to know it's business as usual for our content here, at the prices we set. Either our stuff gets licensed at our prices or it doesn't. Not--it doesn't get licensed here at our prices but can be given away, bulk-style, via who knows what partner Shutterstock is working with

It's tough to word my questions that covers all contingencies but I'm like everyone else here. Once my stuff shows up in bulk sales I'm outta here. I'd rather have no sales at all than any at give away prices

Does my question in a previous reply "Does it matter if we're Exclusive?" tip the scales in our favor or is our Exclusive content ripe for give away bulk sales as well?

Glad it was a one time deal!! but same same same...pond 5 was always worth the time. Always great!!
I have no desire to join the race to the bottom. How much time and effort will it take to move and re-setup?
I have near 2000 clips. Still hunting for a place to put A roll footage..6K -8K $1000+ per clip.
Wont ever go near shutterstock.
open to new ideas!!

Thank you for the explanation, I feel much better.
Az_Jackson 12 Aug 2022 03:26
Yes thanks for the explanation Ryan but what? That's it? You're just going to give a weak explanation and walk away rubbing your hands. No! POND5 has done the wrong thing by their contributors and therefore they should be held accountable. You have stolen from us and we would all appreciate being paid the right commission from the amount we set. From the sounds of it no one who commented is ok with your underhanded tactics.

As a professional I did a lot of research into the stock industry and where I should sell my b-roll footage and POND5 paid the highest commission in the industry and therefore I drew the conclusion that they would at least be ethical as they seemed to have much more respect than the other anti-human agencies ripping off their contributors in a myriad of ways. With this sort of behavior and the new merger with the billion dollar Shutterstock I think I may have given POND5 way too much credit.

You sold 8 of my videos with a sale price of $97 each which should give you $776 "Exclusive video contributors receive 60% revenue share" so I should receive $465.60 but I was only paid $134.16 so you owe me... $331.44.

I look forward to receiving my adjusted payment. Thank you. Not paying the correct amount is theft and adjusting the contract at will without our consent is fraud. Need this be escalated to a class action? The choice will be yours along with the karma. Do the right thing POND5.
