GPU compatibility

Adobe has not updated their list of CS6 compatible GPUs in the past 7 months. What's wrong with them? I want to buy a relatively new card, but they have stopped testing new cards. Anyone has experience with Nvidia 660 GTX in both Photoshop and Premiere Pro CS6?

It's a GTX card usually it should work with CUDA. Maybe you have to add it to the supported_cards text file to make it work with hardware acceleration.

More info about that here: http://www.studio1productions.com/Articles/PremiereCS5.htm

Looks like a good article. I'll try.

Only the processor is Nvidia. Does it matter if the 660gtx is from Asus or Gigabyte?

nope, doesn't matter which one. as long as it is nvidia. I have a zotac 680 and it works magically!

There is a data file (config file) named raytracer_supported_cards.txt under your Program File > Adobe >Adobe AFter Effects CS6 > Support Files directory. It is editable. Simply add your card class to it - for example in your case GeForce GTX 660 would be the entry. If your entry is missing, you will not see it in the AE preferences for GPU CUDA stuff. Once you put that line into the text file, AE must be restarted to see it. Then go into preferences and turn the baby on. If you don't, you will never get to use the full features of the card with AE.

There is also a similar file under the Premier Pro directory called "cuda_supported_cards.txt" - same thing - add your card

Oh forgot one thing - when editing these files use wordpad and before starting wordpad, right click and select "Run as Administrator". Otherwise it won't let you save the file again.
