Description Character Limit

Hi,
I just wanted to change the price of one of my older items and was confronted with an error message, that I had to shorten my item description to 300 characters.
Very annoying, since I think a 300 character limit is too low, especially if you're including links to similar items. I'm still getting an error message even for something like this:

What's your take on this? Did I miss something here? Havent seen any announcement about this or havent got an email.

Agreed.
300 characters is too low when linking to related items or collections. I guess that limit was added at some point past year when version 2 of the site was released, but I can't recall any announcement on this limitation.
Anyway, there is a tricky way to add some more characters to your description: Go to the "My uploads" page, find the item you want the description to be changed, double click in the description and type your text in the modal window.
It works for me, but It may looks like "gaming" the system...

I think if they find a way to keep the links to related items seperate of the 300 description characters, it could be enough. But with them it's just not!
