Are we the goodwill of stockfootage?

I went to Getty images the other day. Basic clips, nothing better than we produce are selling for $4,000+. I don't get artists who list there clips for $15 bucks. They need to know that editors buy clips because the clip works for the project, not because the price is cheap. My self included need to up prices and stop leaving money on the table. Please give me your thoughts on this issue.

Thanks,

My thought is there are already enough threads about pricing. But if you want to start another please move this to the artists only section.
We don't want to turn off prospective customers with the barrage of thoughts on why we should price different than anyone else.

But offhand, I'm sure that $4K clip was a different license than what we sell. Probably RM

So far i know Getty isn't seller-friendly and artists (if they are accepted) can't price like they want. If only one of 100 submitted clips get accepted, where's the better place? Here or there?

What buyer cares if we argue about pricing?

" Editors buy clips because the clip works for there project not because the price is cheap " well in my experience editors look for a bargain and will try to obtain it for nothing, i was approached by a multi billion pound news and tv corporation, wanting to use some of my videos, i was approached through you tube...... things stalled when i asked for a fee... the same organisation uses still images submitted by photographers..... on there tv weather forecast..... the terms and conditions of submitting is you get a bye-line no fee and they can use it for any purpose that see fit............. including syndicating it around the world......

i was approached by a very upmarket funeral directors wanting to use an image of a famous London bridge.... they wanted to use it on there website..... i asked for £100 ... the reply was they did not have a budget for that amount...... they charge £5000 minimum for a funeral........ they ended up with some awful image that looked like it was taken on a mobile phone...... remember the rich often get rich by not paying or paying as little as possible.......

if you are saying a $4000 clip is the same as available on here for 100-200$ then the editor will no doubt get fired for wasting company money.

I do not recommend people selling a clip for $15 but it depends on there circumstances..... a friend of mine that lives in Eastern Europe earns $1.25 per hour so $15 is over a days wages for her......... over a days wages in England is £100 or $150 upwards.
