Clip Bin Links on clip descriptions...

vadervideo 30 May 2009 16:01
Hey Marcus,

Would it be possible to add a list of clip bin links to the clips that are part of a clip bin? What I mean is that when someone actually looks at the details of a clip, a list of clip bins appears as links that the clip belongs to. But only clip bins that were created by the artist and that are public. Hence, it would act similar to the "more of the same" philosophy, except specifically from the individual artist. This would in turn help in cross marketing what might be a series as well as help the seeking individual find things along the same lines quicker. Just an idea.

Hey Andreas,

If I understand correctly, we already have this. Click on an item page -- for instance this one:
https://www.pond5.com/de/stock-footage/354772.

There's a "public clip bins containing this video" box below the clip details section on the right. In this case it features your "Food..." bin.

We include all public bins containing the clip -- not just those by the artist. But it's a good point -- we should probably have a "more clips by this artist" section as well... I'll put that on our list. :)

Tom,
I had a suggestion:
Each clip that each artist submitted has normally a few version, different angle, different focal lenght, Pan, zoom etc which are on the same subject.. You can group them together and made a little icon of "similiar clips of this artist" to show to customers. And each artist has to decide which clips showed on the search.
If I had 10 clips on sunflower in Toscana, I will choose one single BEST clip as a flagship of all other 9 similiar clips. So customer did not have to click on too many pages to find what they need. If customer see this artist´s sunflower is interesting that they will click on this "similiar clips" icon to see other sunflower clips of this artist. So each search will be much more clean and tidy.
May be that is better than a public bin.
Just my opinion....

Doh, Tom - I totally missed that as I was looking under the description.. I never even bothered to look to the right. :)

Pat - I do this a totally different way with similar clips.. look at the description here (open the clip by just clicking on it and look at the description.):

Andy,
It is a good idea.
But my idea is also not too bad. Just tidy the things a bit up. For your sequence you can just choose one represent clip and show it to customer.
The JavaUploader is unbelieveable slow....

Hello Andreas!

You can do the same thing even in more clever way. There is no need to create a bin because always possible to forget to include new similar clips in that bin.

You can select 1 or few representative clips and surround them in the link with search string. With mouse-over representative clip will play, but with mouse-click you'll get new page with the search results, see below (square brackets changed to brackets for visibility):

(b)Check similar clips:(/b)

and here what you'll see in the description field or elsewhere else:

A beautiful and young Asian woman hangs out near a tree to stay in the shade on a hot summer day while waiting for a call from her friend.

Hi Pat,

Further to your suggestion, one site that sells photos does this by "stacking" the photos together and having a clickable link under the thumbnail " 9 more photos", by clicking the link it takes you to another page with all the photos of that series.

The key to the system being automatic is that the title description and keywords need to be the same.
