Add to Cart Double Button

I just had a minor frustration buying clips.

I went to buy my first set of clips since the details page redesign, and much to my surprise, the large orange "ADD TO CART" button above the preview doesn't actually add anything to the cart, but rather, jumps you down to the OTHER "ADD TO CART" button BELOW the preview. It's THAT button you have to click to add the clip to your cart.

Took me a moment to realize none of my clips were being added to my cart when I clicked the top button. I had to go BACK and find those previous clips and re-add to my cart.

Perhaps this top button should be removed, or re-worded so others don't have this same issue.

Or, I was just being dumb. Who knows. I'd hate to lose sales if this proves to be an actual problem.

It's not an actual problem at all, no, I don't believe. This happens because at the lower add to cart button, buyers sometimes need to select which version they want to purchase. This is done near the lower button. The price is also only displayed near the lower button.

This "move" when you click on the higher button also helps to ensure that buyers who aren't aware they can scroll down to see more information, will actually see that information before buying the item.

I realize it's not a "problem" with the workings of the site, I'm saying it might be a social engineering / interface problem. It happened to me, it may happen to others. It was quite frustrating when I had to go back and RE-add my clips that weren't being added to my cart despite me clicking on a button called, "ADD TO CART."

From a buyers point of view, clicking "ADD TO CART" should actually ADD the clip to a cart, not jump the page to another button called, "ADD TO CART."

I'm sure the site is working as your programmers designed it. I'm saying this design is flawed when actually put to use in the real world.

Perhaps it would be a simple fix to rename that top button to "BUYING OPTIONS" and change the color from orange to blue.

The item pages were only just recently re-designed, so I don't expect they'll make any changes to them anytime soon, but I will of course be happy to pass this feedback along. Thank you for taking the time to explain and share, ODesigns.

And it was due to this redesign that caused me to misuse the site. I'm just pointing out a possible flaw that obviously wasn't focus grouped enough.

Since the top button doesn't actually add an item to the cart, I'm simply suggesting you re-label it to BUYING OPTIONS. Surely that would be a 10-second fix.

It's like putting a stop sign in the middle of the road with the purpose of informing you there's an actual stop sign down the road, so don't stop at the first one, but rather, the second one. Naturally, you see a stop sign, you stop. Like while shopping on the web, you see a button that says ADD TO CART, you expect the end-result is adding an item to a cart.

That is very confusing. Just tested out what you were talking about james.

Maybe name the button "Pressing this will not add to cart but take you down to another button to add to cart, which is confusing, but now you are educated after reading this button"
