http://www.technicolor.com/en/hi/cinema/filmmaking/digital-printer-lights/cinestyle for Canon EOS cameras giving video operators "...better dynamic range of the captured content. This allows for greater artistic freedom during shooting (as the look does not have to locked in during shooting) as well as during the color correction process in postproduction.

"The Technicolor CineStyle™ is a Picture Style (profile) for Canon EOS DSLR cameras that optimizes the dynamic range in the image by leveraging the capabilities of the Canon imaging chipset. Cinematographers and their post-production partners will have greater flexibility in color grading and finishing their projects....

Acquisition with Technicolor’s CineStyle will generate what appears to be a flat, de-saturated looking image. While this image may appear unappealing and undesirable, it is in fact an ideal starting point for post-production and color correction."

Has anyone tried this yet? Do you recommend it based on personal use?

No. Haven't tried it. Going to take a walk down to the local giant gear bazaar here in Bangkok and buy myself a T3i today. Traded in my T2i for lack of adjustable viewfinder. This promises to be a great tool - meaning from what I understand it to be the "raw" version of H.264. So you can do all of your adjustments in post - as the image retains it deep tonal values (for a lack of a better word). I had a setting like this on my Panasonic XH1A - as a custom setting.

Ive got it installed, and will be doing some tests this weekend, on my 7D

Having problems with the install on Canon T3i. Get to the EOS Utility but it recognizes the camera, then won't find a place to put the instal file - as in the brose icon for the install is not functional. I am moving the set-up over to the MacPro. Maybe my "Hackintosh" is causing the problem. Artmyth, keep us posted on your tests. Interested to know.

I did get the CineStyle installed in the camera. It really need the color balancing software they recommend. I'll be downloading and installing that also. Traveling in China for a few weeks - will post some final results here then.
