Clip bins

Does this option work for anyone? I don't seem to be able to figure out how to sort my clips in to Bins. Thanks in advance if anyone can help.

Well... it works for me. Take a look at my "home page" - i.e. click on my forum name - to see what it can do for you.

I am however a bit lost about your question. What kind of help do you need exactly? If you can specify...?

Hi Wendy,
Lets give this another try.
1. At bottom of main P5 page after you sign in, click "New Bin"
2. Type name of bin and click create
* just worked for me now I get same error*
3. Type in description in next window.
4. Top right click make bin public
5. Now bring up display of your clips, do a search for what you want.
6. Icon below each thumb says add to bin. As you add the thumb shows on bottom of screen under new bin name.
7. That's about it.
When I just did it to test it worked fine. When I had two screens open and signed in on both the procedure gave the same failure that you said.
Hope ya can get it to work.
Don

Thanks Don, I was embarrassed to mail you back that I couldn't get it. I'll wait until my uploads are done. Close out window on second computer and try again. I'll send you a site mail either way.

The code involved in creating bins was rearranged not too long ago because we've started generating special icons for public bins. During this code change, a bug was introduced. The bug was only seen when you had no bin at all. It should work now.

Sorry about this everyone.

What is the benefit of making clip bins? Or is it like a 'favorites' type thing?

ya I'm at a loss to about the bins and how to keep my clips organized as to which ones I've sent to the curator for review and which ones already went

The documentation on Pond5 is poor at best. We're going to put some effort into it after a well needed redesign of some pages.

There are two main reasons for using a bin.

Quite a few users create a bin and then use the share button to send it to co-workers for review. Say you're a contractor and need to get approval from whomever, then this is convenient. These bins are normally private.

The other main reason is exposure. If you have 20 clips of vintage British cars, you might want to put all these in a bin and make it public. Then this bin will appear at random at the front page and at random on the clip page ("bins containing this clip").

They can also be used internally, for example, I'll try to change the price of these clips and compare it with these other. etc.

The search filter at the top of the my_uploads page is supposed to make your life easier. If you select "Curator Queue" in status and press search you'll see the clips on the curator queue.
