ID Requirement

HDVMaster. The reason you can't find you're soundfx is because they have, in addition to requiring ID in your portfolio, they now require a bunch of hoops to jump through to validate your ability to sell sfx. They want you to email acopy of your id (another copy, in addition to the copy your upload from your main page) a screenshot of your most recent uploaded sfx file in your DAW, and a link to your "web presence" which means a website or a linkedin. I have neither of those. I use facebook almost exclusively for my business, but it is not enough to them. They have pulled all my sfx and are refusing to put them back because they don't feel my "web presence" is great enough, just because I don't use a website or linkedin. Since pretty much ALL of my sales on pond5 has been sound fx, I'm pretty much at the point of demanding my $20 and parting ways. I've been emailing Lawrence with Pond5 support, and every response from him just makes me more infuriated.

Actually, if you've already sent in a form of ID, then it's not necessary to send it in again. You would only need to send in anything that you haven't yet, in order to clear the verification.
And yes, that's accurate, things like Facebook, YouTube, SoundCloud, and Twitter are not sufficient for the SFX verification process. We need to see a professional website/presence or an established LinkedIn profile that references your media work.

Please blame the people who have tried to make a living stealing content and uploading it to sell. It is legal to require an ID from your independent contractors ... If you are in the US, they should have your tax information (SS# or EID) anyway for 1099 purposes, so what does an ID matter. I came across a forum thread the other day detailing how to earn "beer money" by uploading stolen or CC stock video to pay sites ... I'd rather have my intellectual property that I sell/license secured anyway. If you want to be treated like a real professional, this is what is required of real professionals.

I only had two SFX files, a ringing bell and a typewriter. Do you really think I would have a website for that? Never used Linkedin. There was no choice but to let my files be deleted. There must be a way for amateurs like me to verrify that I am legitimate? I like Pond5 but this policy and the ever increasing waiting times for video clip reviews are hard to understand.
