HV20 talk

I just purchased my first REAL camera, the Canon HV20, and I really want to start uploading some clips. Any suggestions on how I should compress out of Final Cut for upload? also, the prices on these clips seems to vary so much, is there a pricing guide? or is it just my best judgment? thanks a lot!

no set pricing but with HD don't undercut yourself. You need to pay for the camera, tapes, software, broadband internet and your time. Generally I suggest nothing short of at least $50 and if the clip is a one of a kind go up. You will see many clips sell here for above $100. Best of luck and welcome to HD. Now price them right and makes lots of money ;)

sweet! the idea is to pay off the camera, lol, I have already uploaded a few things, but now I'm wondering, I've been noticing that there aren't many "specific" shots here, example: someone cleaning a pair of shoes close up, and other generic stuff like that... is that stuff encouraged, or frowned upon?

I think few people need such footage, but when you need it it isn't out there..
I always let the people of P5 price my footage, it's around the $30-$40.
In Final Cut I always export with quicktime conversion, with the codec motion-jpeg-b
good luck with selling ;)

I have been using this codec but for some reason I'm still getting rejected by the curator, its getting kind of frustrating, the footage looks great I just don't know what I'm doing wrong, perhaps a setting in the camera, of the users here who have HV20's what are your settings at? thanks!

Am I missing something here? Ferran275's question is over a month old and it's not been answered. Certainly other users are not required to answer someone else's questions, but one would think that a Pond5 rep would be more than willing. So, what gives??

Footage from the HV20 should be prepared using MotionJPEG (if interlaced) and PhotoJPEG (if progressve). Always prepare footage at the native framerate and resolution. If your clip was shot at 24p, you should either remove pulldown ahead of time, or indicate that it was shot 24p in your clip description. Of course, you should always monitor clips to verify quality before uploading.

The HV20 is a relatively inexpensive camera and while the quality can be quite good, it is not at the same level as higher-end cameras. If you're not sure about pricing, check the "set the price for me" box and we'll set the price that we think will maximize its revenue potential. Of course you are free to change this at any point.

The reasons for specific clip rejections are sent out in the review sitemails. If you have questions, feel free to send sitemail our way or use the https://www.pond5.com/de/index.php?page=contact_us page.
