Anyone know a simple way to import footage that has been converted to mpeg through cs3 (HDV) to final cut pro?
Or what is a good 'sub' format to convert it to, then import that into FCP?
Thanks guys.

I would think you could use something like mpeg streamclip to convert it the HDV mpeg to an HDV quicktime file, or to a quicktime file using something like Photo Jpeg or Motion Jpeg

Tried doing it in premiere, but the files were HUGE! Like 400mb for 2 seconds. The original is 13gig for 60minutes.
I will try the streamclip to HDV QT file. Thanks for the tip

If you´re on a Mac,
-you could use www.clipwrap.com to rewrapp the m2t files into Apple HDV streams (up to 1 min length with the demo, otherwise spend 50 bucks on the full version).
-ProRes422 would be a good format for Mac NLEs other than FCP.
For converting from PC, I´d also say
-goo´ol´ Mjpeg
-or rewrapp to mpeg2 program stream, with Mpeg Streamclip. FCP can open them but they play choppy, so you gotta do another conversion to prores422 with FCP for smooth editing.
Good luck,
Stefan
