The Secret Universe - 3D animation

OMG, when you don't understand it, .... how shall i understand it ??? I'm not sure if they say that you cannot use the software in general for stock media, ...... what is total bullshit. I'm not firm with your UFO project, maybe they mean that you cannot resell the model because it's only an included sample within the software to show the possibilities?
Till now i didn't take a concrete look to the Element3D packs, i only plan to buy the basic software next year. Before i need to become more practice with AE basics. Just create my 2nd own animation, only sound is missing to be finished. The need for me is to be able to use AE as 3D modification effects plattform. This Advanced 3D Noise tutorial http://www.videocopilot.net/tutorials/advanced_3d_noise_and_deform/ impressed me nonstopp.
Belonging 3D models (packs) i have a lot of content of figures and objects from the time when i was working with POSER and else. Belonging 3D content you can buy whatever you can imagine and more, it's a big market and it's standart that you buy such content for professional commercial use. Last not least i prefer if possible to create own 3D content.

POSER 11 is available? Aha! My last version was POSER 10 years before and there was a big change in the software belonging the libraries and some other. The previous versions were much more easy to use, only 1 window and the libraries for unfold at the right screen-side (like Lightroom). V10 came with 2 open windows, one extra for libraries, ..... searching nonstopp and often not working.
I think they publish from time to time new versions to sell their new models/figures which of course become better from V to V. But even in their oldest software you can use the newest models, it has the same basic functions and i never note a sensefull technical progress in newer versions.
You're right when you say that most POSER figures looks in any way as fake or puppets. That's belonging the scene. The typical POSER user are housewifes which like to use the newest male or female model and dress it up with dream-like clothing. The quality of renders, textures and animated end-products end only with your imagination and investment of time. Last not least for posing and animating figures it's an easy quick to use software with quick learning curve. Only when you begin rigging (setup bones for own created models) your time investment will explode.

Yes .. it is mind-boggling, to say the least .. but, I understand them not wanting to support use of their model packs in such scenarios, but on deeper reading, unless I am really misunderstanding, it seems that NO render is legal for use as stock. The only way to make stock with their product is to create a template, sell the template, but with no media (other than our own stock) then the end user has to buy E3D and whatever media packs to render out the project.

In other words: Useless (for me)

Right now I am finding that of all the suggestions, although a bit more expensive, iclone is looking more interesting to me.

I really do not want to learn lots of different systems. They are all so unique, and have different ways of doing things. I would like ONE system that makes sense to me, before I get obese by sitting too long at computer!

When they take money for the software they cannot forbid you to use it comercially, except they offer extra comercial licenses which maybe a bit more expensive. And especially they cannot say which commerce is ok and which not. Of course it may be possible that they say "we offer the software, but the objects are only for demo", so you have to buy your own objects for commercial purpose. But even when they sell model/obj packs and really expensive they must offer the possibility to create commercial content.
As i remember about all this 3D content the contracts are always a bit difficult to define, but last not least the sense is that when you create comercial content, .... nobody shall be able to extract the obj or model from your commercial product. There's a good example with this POSER/DAZ3D figures. You can create skins, poses, animations, clothes and movies with it, but the seller don't get the figure obj file within your sold product. Makes sense!

Just took a look at iClone7. Looks interesting, but very strong game related. But this may result in quicker rendertimes and less ressource needs. I remember a lot of years before one of their 1st versions. Was 100% designed for low-poly game characters.
I have a lot of different 3D stuff and 3D software on my harddrives because it was (or still is) one of my creative passions. I don't think about if it's sensefull for business, but enjoy when i can include it in any way for my more or less commercial projects. Maybe a lot of this older (not installed) software won't run on actual systems. When you need any 3D software for business it's really important to define before what you will create, which style is yours and then decide for the entry software. Last not least it will become more by time, depending your creativity and imagination of art.
