Free Canon External Monitor

Here is a neat link showing how using the EOS utility that comes with the 5D and I think the 7D, you can turn your laptop into a external monitor and still use the cameras LCD at the same time.

USB cable

I just tested this with the T2i and yes, it does work well as a remote monitor/control for both stills and video. The cable is a standard USB cable that came with the camera.
