DJI Teaser

Wow, a s**tload of stock clips, music, and a teaser at the end (3 more days so not long to wait), if not a bit melodramatic:

Many are guessing a 4K 60 fps Mavic Pro. Note: I have nothing to do with DJI, just thought it was cool.

So, mavic air has been released. Size = (Mavic Pro + Spark)/2. Camera looks like 100 mbps not 60 on the Mavic Pro. Cannot do 4K 60 fps. It can read hand gestures (does anyone really fly like that?). The promo had my heart pounding. The reality... not so much. But that's just me.

Perfect for a drone beginner like me, already ordered one, Hey : 849€ for flying 4K video And one of my client is already interested to add some drone footage to our video shooting

If you can wait you may be better served with this tool:

DJI stresses more and more with their firmware and app updates (like Microsoft), users are beta testers and flight restrictions become more and more.

@Beckhusen 4K 60fps is great it's less foldable than the dji, witch is essential for me

I think for drone footage you really don't need 60fps ;)

Problem with Air is following:
You have only 20 or 21 min flight time. That means when the accu is empty or too low it falls down like a stone.
From this max 21min you must debit the time for the start (div settings and controls, maybe 2 to 3 min). At next maybe you need ~1min to reach the heigth and direction for your video flight.
17min left !!!
Very important, for the way back your accu should have 30% and you should land with min 10%.
Means calculation for way back / return is 6,3min.
So your effective flight time is a bit more than 10min !!!

That's the theory! The practice is much more worse.
The return can need longer time when there's more wind. If the connection between drone and controller gets lost (and this happens often enough) your drone first up /ascent to your "return height" setting, ..... need time.
In the practice you will often note that you absolute don't know where your drone is exactly and it comes back from another direction as you expected. Huuuuh, that's weird ;)
Last not least a short flight time means also that you need several accus when you will have some fun for a afternoon in the nature.
My Mavic makes 3km in one direction and return, but full speed in a straight line. When there's more wind at the way back i try to fly deeper if the landscape allows it. My longest flight was 4km in one direction and return. Ok, must not do it, but sure when you are in the air you will fly around and check the landscape. Means very quick your drone is out of sight and sometimes it can be really tricky to find the way back to your position.

Very interesting. Thanks.

@Beckhusen Duh... I don't wanna go to far with my drone, many eagles and vultures flight zone in my area, just some footage above brooks and trees will be fine to me

It's forbidden in my country to loose sight of your drone anyway
Beckhusen 26 Jan 2018 13:13
:) nearly everwhere!

That's the plan of everybody when buying his first drone ;)
Good luck !
