I do not understand why anybody would buy the new Sony VG-20 when the Sony A65 and A77 are more versatile, have a bigger sensor, take the same video quality, have more potential of putting money in your pocket and are a better travel companion. The only thing I see in the new VG20 is that you can attach a nanoflash or ninja to the HDMI output (assuming the HMDI works during recording). I do not think that the better audio gives an edge to the VG20. I think the professional photographer/videographer will always select the A77. Seems that the VG20 is also missing a LANC. The Ninja needs a LANC to start recording when you press the camera's record button or you will end-up pressing 2 record buttons.
GH2 vs A65/A77 - I think the new winner is the 28mbs of the A65/A77 and that huge sensor.
GH2 vs VG20 - I would go with the VG20 because more lenses may be available. GH2 is not famous for its photos only for 24p/25p @ 24mbs.
The bigger sensor on the VG20 may give it the same low light performance as the GH2.
What do you think?
...but I still hate AVCHD and still prefer Canon's DSLR movie format.
