Thanks for posting this Jake! I just might have to build one of these temporarily for the next production I work on, and you can't beat this design at around $60 altogether.

Thanks for that link, I have a half finished sound booth in the corner of my office just the kick I need to get it finished!

If it's just voice over narration, sometimes a simple retreat into a parked car will do. Building a tent with C-Stands, movers blankets and a directional mic also gets on the spot results.

I never want to work on anything where recording a voiceover in a car "will do". Sorry, if someone gets to come on here and suggest recording audio in a car as an option I'm going to come on and suggest that it is NEVER an option.

Keep the bar high folks. If you want to create an industry where recording a voiceover in a car is even in the "lexicon" of options, it won't be too long before silly things like focus and lighting are luxuries you could do without if you had to.

Haha, I certainly agree with you Toby. Technology has become so accessible to the film making masses, and people are getting used to capturing "usuable" results that they can "fix in post". Every job I get, no matter what the pay, I strive to produce the highest quality sound effects I can with the tools at hand.

To defend smudlack, I understand he's offering the car technique as a easily accessible option to those who don't have time to set up a mini studio (and it certainly isn't the best option).

Haha, one thought... Where would the Protools HD rig fit in that car setup? I say the glovebox.

I really like that quote in the beginning!
