What's with this lag???

zr_media 21 Jul 2008 22:08
Okay folks, it just took me three hours to tag 26 clips. What the hell is going on??? I haven't logged in in awhile but needless to say, none of us will make another dollar until this site runs like it was last time I was here. "Lag" is an understatement, this site has become nearly non-responsive!! I probably submitted several clips several times apiece due to having to click buttons several times to get any kind of response at all. Please tell me there's routine maintenence happening right now, otherwise we might as well shut this place down. No customer is going to stay here for more than a couple of clicks before they lose patience and go elsewhere. Please, somebody fill me in on what's happening. Thanks in advance...

??? I dont have any lag.

Yes, no lag on my end either. ZR - where are you located? What sort of connection do you have? Are other sites slower than usual as well?

No, this is the only site acting this way. I'm on a cable modem in Florida. I just now tried to create a new bin. It let me type in the name but the "create" button would not respond in any way. Also I have a contantly flickering hourglass riding my cursor when I'm not in a text field. I recently formatted this computer, but I don't see how that could make a difference, especially when every other site now runs faster than before the format. My security settings are the same as before. Any ideas?

I also just tried to move some clips into a bin. I clicked the execute button, waited two mintues and clicked it again. This is where my browser window suddenly displayed "(not responding)". A few seconds later, my whole screen went dark and a little "information" window opened at the top of my screen (obviously part of Pond 5). It would have been great if this little window had HAD some information in it instead of only displaying "information" at the top. I don't know what's goin on here, but I can't work like this, this is maddening. I'll try updating my browser or switching to firefox or something and get back to you folks with the results.

Darn, that's too bad, I sure hate lag also. BUT I've signed in here on three different computers and through two completely different ISP 100 miles apart and no lag at all. I can hear your frustration. A couple months ago I also switched to Firefox. Good luck.

No lag here either.
Maybe some DNS server is having problems in your area.

I'm off a cable modem in Florida too, and I noticed some lag on the site last night also, flash preview would load very slowly or not at all, but now things are fine.

Could you please try this program: http://www.pingplotter.com/. Hopefully it will reveal if there is a weak link somewhere.

Our clip/flv storage was down yesterday, my guess is that the flv preview problems was related to that rather than www.Pond5.com.

Best regards,
Marcus

Please give http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/ a shot as well, so we can determine whether this is a browser issue.
